About Me

My photo
Aurora, Ontario, Canada
I am a lover of all things created, history, travel, art and literature. I spend my time with family and friends, working hard and creating things, pretty much in that order. My passion is to make beautiful things to wear, mostly accessories, jewelry, belts, clutches, hair adornments, brooches etc. I create mostly using fabric , fibres, metals, jewels, pins, chain, clips, buttons and more. I have a shop on Etsy.com which I sometimes have a little trouble maintaining depending on the time of year and how busy I am. Check out my Etsy Shop www.etsy.com/shop/dressedtothe9s or click on the box on the left to go directly there.

Shoes, shoes, shoes- High-Low!

The other day I posted about getting a designer look at a much more affordable price. Today I want to give you some comparisons on shoes as well because ladies we all love shoes.

First up I absolutely love this pair of Givenchy kitten heel neutral colored gladiator sandal.
These gorgeous sandals retail for over $700.00.

You can get a very similar look by stopping by Call it Spring

Call It Spring $49.99

These Alexander McQueens for $1165.00 are to die for , not sure I can manage something this high anymore.

But if you don't have any extra cash lying around or the bank won't give you a loan then you have options...

These Steve Maddens are $129.95

Loving the look of the ever popular wedge?
From Burberry at Zappos for $495.00
we have these gorgeous wear with almost anything black wedges

But this pair below of similar style can be purchased at Callitspring.com (not sure if these are available in stores) for a mere $24.98

I love these
These would look great with some black skinny pants and a beautiful summery top

Add some jewelry and a handbag and you are all set for a nice evening out

Or add a pair of flip flops and dress it down....try these at approx $340.00 from Net-a-porter

 or $60.00 from Aldo...your choice

These are so cute and so bohemian

Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen

How wonderful that the House of Alexander McQueen designed Catherine Middleton now the Duchess of Cambridge's dress. Sarah Burton for AM did a beautiful job and this will only help increase her already popular line.

Catherine Middleton waves as she arrives for the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011 in London, England.

Kate Middleton arrives at Westminster Abbey

The dress is similar to that of Grace Kelly's but a little more contemporary

Kate's tiara was originally that of the Queen Mother's . It was designed in 1936 by Cartier and presented to the Queen Mother three weeks before George VI was crowned King.  Later, on the 18th birthday of Elizabeth it was presented to her by her mother.

Kate's earrings were a gift to her from her parents for her wedding day.

Let us take a little trip down memory lane shall we.....................

Great Ideas Easter and more!!

I love this idea I saw on www.marthastewart.com
these little curtain rods are so cheap too!

Storing baking sheets, cutting boards, and sturdy platters upright on kitchen shelves frees space and keeps you from having to lift a heavy stack when you need only one item. Create dividers for them using tension curtain rods. Buy rods to fit the space, and position pairs of them at intervals. Twist to tighten.

Here's another one from www.marthastewart.com
A plate rack mounted to the wall for children's books.
They suggest making it but you could probably buy one at a yard sale that may need painting.

A ready-made plate rack can be easily transformed into a child's bookshelf, displaying both toys and children's books. You can also make your own shelves; just have all the wood cut to size at a lumberyard.

Check out this beautiful Easter table setting as seen of HGTV.ca

So Cute!

Colorful natural containers pair prettily with classic silver pieces to create an elegant spring tablescape

In HONOR of Moms!

Hi all,

It has been a couple of weeks since I have posted. I thought I was getting better but my health has been suffering the last 5 weeks. I am finally on the mend and getting some energy back.
So I hope you don't think I disappeared because I didn't. I will be posting on a more regular basis. I haven't been able to do any sewing but hope to get some things done this weekend.

Anyway, enough about me. I know it is Easter this weekend and Mother's day is coming up as well so I wanted to make a treasury in honor of Mothers for that reason. I am a mother and I'm sure quite a few  of you are as well. Moms seem to always put themselves first no matter what. When they are sick they don't let on and try to carry on without alarming anyone. When they are tired and their child is sick, or sad, or hurt nothing else matters, they are there. I lost my mother the day after Mother's day 6 years ago and I think of her every single day in some way or another. I remember one of my first thoughts after my Mom passed away was "I have never known life without her" she was always there, I really was unaware what life would be if she weren't part of it. Now I know. So here's to all you Moms out there, you are AWESOME!!! You are CARED ABOUT and most of all you are LOVED!!!

Here's to you Mom xxxxxx
